Snow today on the ridge--like Christmas; rain in town--almost spring.

Check out the new map on the blog and the newsreels. Allison at the library walked me through some of the blogspot gadgets. Pretty nifty.

Have been reading Africa--altered states, ordinary miracles by Dowden. He added another strand to my understanding of the genocide in Rwanda, adding to Kapuscinski's no-nonsense chapter in In the Shadow of the Sun and Diamond's environmentally organized one in Collapse. The stories are the same, but composed from different strands, viewed from different points, emphasizing different underlying problems. All, however, support Hannah Arendt: Evil is banal.
